For domestic packages under 15.99 ounces and less we offer a service called Mail Innovations that is comparable to USPS First Class Mail. The differences are that UPS Mail Innovations provides enhanced tracking through UPS.com and offers the recipient a much better view of where their package is throughout the time in transit.
Mail Innovations for domestic packages works very similarly to the international service and is a consolidation service. This means that packages are shipped together to a sorting facility (our is in West Valley, UT) then sent via UPS directly to the recipient's local post office. UPS tracks the package to the Post Office then hands the package off to the post office to make the final delivery. Delivery notification will be updated and show at UPS.com. Average time in transit for UPS Domestic Mail Innovations is 3-5 business days and our experience has been extremely favorable compared to First Class Mail.
